The highly anticipated Trading Post Ground Breaking Ceremony took place at the Malaybalay City Public Market, signifying a significant milestone for the local farmers. The event, which was recently held on June 29, 2023, was attended by esteemed guests, including the Honorable City Mayor Atty. Jay Warren R. Pabillaran, Atty. Mitchell Talatala, Executive Asst. IV/CEEDMO Designate, and representatives from the Department of Agriculture.
Among the distinguished guests present were Dr. Janeth Lopez, Chief Provincial Operation Center, and Councilor Alan Ryan “Manoy” Legaspi, Chairperson of the Committee on Agriculture. The ceremony also welcomed representatives from partner agencies of the CMO-ABED, led by Engr. Joel O. Delos Reyes, City Agriculture-OIC Engr. Richard B. Leono, and Punong Brgy. 09, Hon. Rodrigo Timones.
During his speech, Mayor Pabillaran emphasized his commitment to the agricultural sector by announcing approved allocations for key projects. He revealed a substantial 30 million pesos budget for the construction of a road network at Brgy. Natid-asan, aimed at enhancing connectivity between the Malaybalay City Public Market and surrounding areas. Mayor Pabillaran’s vision of “saving one farmer at a time” resonated throughout his message, as he underscored the significance of the trading post project. The establishment of the trading post is expected to provide invaluable support to local farmers, offering a dedicated space for them to sell their produce directly to consumers. With this, farmers can maximize their profits and build sustainable livelihood.
The trading post is anticipated to foster economic growth, not only benefiting farmers but also bolstering the local economy. It will create a conducive environment for trade and facilitate the exchange of goods between farmers and consumers. This initiative aligns with the city’s goal of promoting self-sufficiency in the agricultural sector and uplifting the lives of those engaged in farming activities.
As the Trading Post Ground Breaking Ceremony concluded, attendees expressed their enthusiasm for the project’s commencement and its potential to transform the lives of Malaybalay City’s farmers.
