To enhance proper communication during emergencies and calamities, a turn-over ceremony of 40 hand-held radios to 10 (cluster 1) barangays was initiated by City Councilor Niko P. Aldeguer, with the immeasurable support of the 2nd District Congressman Atty. John T. Flores and City Mayor Florencio “Doc Boy” T. Flores, Jr. on January 28, 2021, at the Barangay Laguitas Covered Court, Malaybalay City.
Two pairs of hand-held radios each were distributed to 10 (cluster 1) barangays namely Aglayan, Laguitas, Mapayag, Imbayao, San Jose, Magsaysay, Pat-pat, Kalasungay, Dalwangan, and Capitan Anghel, respectively.
In his message, City Councilor Niko Aldeguer expressed his gratitude for the support given by the City Government of Malaybalay, especially when it comes to projects that promote providing good service for the welfare of the people of the City. “I hope that these sets of equipment will be used properly, so that it will still be used in the future, especially on emergencies”, he added.
Meanwhile, City Mayor Florencio T. Flores, Jr., explained that this pertains to proper communication. “The use of radio is mainly for communication. It is important not just for emergencies because, with proper communication, this will help save lives”, he stressed.
The attendees were composed of Punong Barangays, Kagawads of Peace & Order Committee, and BPSO Chiefs of respective barangay.
After the ceremony, a short demonstration of how to use the hand-held radios and other basic rules was conducted.
