The DSWD Field Office-10 turned over a total amount of Php 1.8 million worth of livelihood assistance to six barangays in the City on January 27, 2022. This is part of Executive Order No. 70 that aims to harmonize the delivery of basic services and social development packages in conflict-affected and vulnerable communities in pursuit of the country’s peace and development agenda.

Barangays that took part in the said event held at Peoples’ Hall, City Hall, Casisang and Barangay 1 Function Hall, respectively were from barangays Mapayag, Dalwangan, Manalog, Kibalabag, Indalasa, and Imbayao.

The livelihood assistance in the amount of P 300,000.00 were handed over per recipient-barangay for their community store to be managed cooperatively with their members as community representatives. The grant is also geared to promote selling of basic goods at lower prices in their neighborhood as one of their main objectives. The total generated income will then be shared equally among members.

Being capable of catering community needs through the provision of basic services, this will enable to maximize people’s participation in community development and help them realize that they have the pivotal role in changing the picture of their community into a better one. And lastly, to feel that the government were there and they were not left behind, but the center of government service.
