The beneficiaries and frontliners of barangays Silae and Mapulo gathered at their respective covered courts to witness and receive food packs and various sets of personal protective equipment (PPEs) on August 13, 2020.
This is a continuing program of the Chilfund Philippines Building Capacity, Awareness, Advocacy and Programs of Civil Society Organizations to Combat Child Labor in Crop Agriculture Project (BUILDCA²P) in partnership with the Kaanib Foundation and Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).
A total of 50 gallons of alcohol, 130 boxes of surgical mask, 130 pieces of face shield and 910 pieces of cloth mask were donated to frontliners in their barangays. Food packs and a sack of rice were also distributed to 249 deserving beneficiaries of barangay Silae and 163 of barangay Mapulo, respectively.
Mayor Florencio T. Flores graced the occasion and extended his gratitude to ChildFund, Kaanib and DOLE for their act of generosity amid the pandemic. He also cited their highly commendable advocacy for the children’s rights and welfare.
The program was also attended by City Administrator Herculano S. Ronolo, DOLE officers Elna Seguiro and Ruben T. Biado, ChildFund project coordinator Alvin U. Dumduma and Kaanib Foundation incharge Erlinda Savago.
Ronolo also expressed gratitude of donations given to the beneficiaries, saying “it can help save lives.” He reminded everyone that one of the things we should be thankful for is the goodness of the Lord for making us as an instruments to experience His goodness, and with continuous unity, protection and cooperation, we can overcome this pandemic.
In response, Silae Punong barangay Erlinda V. Castañares and Menson T. Singato Jr., Mapulo’s Punong barangay thanked the agencies expressing they were deeply honored to be chosen as recipients of assistance during this trying time.
