The Malaybalay City Local Government Unit (LGU) and Bukidnon State University (BukSU) have collaborated to develop five Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) research proposals during Phase Three of the Basic Research Training Series held in Medina, Misamis Oriental, from October 23 to 25, 2024.

Organized by BukSU’s Office of the Vice President for Research, Extension, and Innovations, Phase 3 focused on teaching participants from various LGU offices essential budgeting, expense tracking, and communication planning skills, empowering them to manage and present their projects effectively.

Through practical sessions, participants gained skills to manage their projects more effectively. A session on creating a communication plan also helped teams learn how to present their proposals
The LGU team members included representatives from several city offices, including Disaster Risk Reduction & Management, Planning & Development, Administration, Social Welfare & Development, Environment & Natural Resources, Housing & Urban Development, and Agriculture.

The training underscored the value of strategic research planning and interdepartmental cooperation, paving the way for well-prepared initiatives that address critical areas in disaster preparedness and city development.
