Malaybalay City Environment and Natural Resources Office hosted the second Monday convocation program of the City Government as sponsoring office on May 21, 2018, bearing the theme: “Nagbabago na ang Panahon, Panahon na para Magbago.”

Amid the adverse effects of climate change, invited guest speaker Rev. Fr. Oliver O. Verdejo shared his message of hope that we can still be an instrument of change especially in caring for our mother earth.

The assistant parish priest of San Isidro Cathedral in his speech downplayed western ideas through individualism and relativism that might have serious repercussion on the decisions we make as well as to our policymakers.

Verdejo warned the “my way” mentality which conditions our thinking and the course of actions we may undertake that can be helpful or detrimental in our dealings with the environment.

He said mother earth is our common home and also to our children’s children that we should be sensitive in our belongingness for taking care of her as temporary stewards.
