In celebration of the Indigenous Peoples’ (IP) Week, six couples exchanged their vows during the tribal mass wedding ceremony on March 14, Wednesday at Provincial Capitol Grounds as part of the lined-up activities of Kaamulan Festival.
Bae Adelina Tareno and Warlito Sagubay solemnized the IP couples belonged to Talaandig, Bukidnon and Higaonon tribes, assisted by the Malaybalay City Civil Registrar Office (CCRO) staff.
IP matrimonial ceremony was governed in accordance to their customary laws, rites, traditions and practices under Republic Act 8371, according to CCRO.
CCRO also added that activity aimed to legalize couples living together under the same roof as husband and wife.
With their marriage legalized, they can enjoy and avail several programs of the National Government such as 4Ps (Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program), IP beneficiaries and Philhealth benefits.
