On October 12, 2020, representatives from the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) Region 10 inspected two isolation facilities in Malaybalay City. The group visited the Ligtas Covid Center (LCC) in Brgy. Patpat, and Pelot’s in Brgy. Laguitas which the City Government have been using as quarantine facility for LSIs and ROFs.

The OCD group was composed of civil defense officers Marlyn O. Trozo, Eileen Bautista and Leah Manzano. They inspected the City’s isolation facilities in order to validate and further assess the immediate needs to run the said facilities. They wanted to determine as well the pressing requirements of both facilities as we continue to contain and mitigate Covid-19 contagion in the City.

Based on their observations, and in consultation with the City Incident Management Team headed by Steven Cary S. Manuel, the priorities include augmentation of food packs, hygiene kits, and other amenities. All these were considered to sustain the efficient operation of the facilities, especially the welfare of those patients in isolation.

The Office of Civil Defense is an organization within the Philippines’ Department of National Defense and serves as the implementing arm of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council providing continuous development of strategic and systematic approaches alongside measures to reduce the vulnerabilities and risks to hazards and manage the possible consequences of disasters.
