The City Government of Malaybalay through the Public Employment Service Office (PESO) in coordination with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) organized an Orientation to prepare qualified recipients in availing the employment program known as Special Program for the Employment of Students (SPES) on April 21, 2021.

SPES is a youth employment-bridging program which aims to provide temporary employment to poor but deserving students, Out-of-school youth, and dependents of displaced or would-be displaced workers during summer or any time of the year to augment the family’s income, and to help ensure that beneficiaries are able to pursue their education.

City Mayor Florencio T. Flores, Jr. welcomed the participants during the orientation held at the Peoples Hall, City Hall. He hoped that their upcoming summer job will help them sustain and continue their education. Further, Mayor Flores encouraged working students to keep on striving and pursue their studies so that one day their hard work will pay off.

Meanwhile, City Administrator and concurrent PESO Manager, Herculano S. Ronolo also expressed his delight that the program has finally pushed through to cater 100 student-employees while observing minimum public health standards during this time of pandemic

.Among the topics discussed were the salient points on the Department Order No. 175-17 implementing rules and regulations of SPES conducted by DOLE officer Jessamie A. Jorquia.
