Barangay Profile

The name “Mapulo” is derived from several sources. From its indigenous term, “Napulo”, the root word “Pulo” has two meanings: at the top and island or isolated land. In the vernacular, it literally means 10. Its relevance is that the area is surrounded by 10 big mountains and so, the name speaks for itself.

Historical background

The history of Barangay Mapulo started before it became a regular barangay. Before, Mapulo is just a sitio of Barangay Silae.

The name “Mapulo” is derived from several sources. From its indigenous term, “Napulo”, the root word “Pulo” has two meanings: at the top and island or isolated land. Barangay Mapulo was created under RA 3590 on 1960. It has a total land area of 2,625 hectares. It is bounded in the north by Barangay Caburacanan, in the south by Barangay Silae, in the east by Barangay Zamboanguita and in the west by SitioKilap-agan, Can-ayan. Moreover, the barangay is 45 kilometers away from Poblacion Malaybalay.

The barangay is subdivided into 3 puroks and 3 zones. A purok/zone is a term designated to political subdivisions which are managed by their own sets of leaders. The table below will identify these puroks and zones.
