Most of the Datu’s men were from Barangays of Bugcaon, Lantapan, Dalwangan Malaybalay and impalutao, impasug-ong, Bukidnon.
Datu Manlagunot and his men named the place “Dumagulos”, which means a creek where to fetch water. One night the Datu’s daughter dreamed that she heard a voice from somewhere suggesting the word “Mapayag” instead Dumagulos to name the place. So it is how they became and bitter known as “Mapayag” which means several small houses.
After many years Datu Manlagunot was died. The men like Melquiades Libohan, Mr. Anselmo Deconlay, Mr. Anselmo Deconlay, Mr. Louis Pechora and Mr. Jose Liston had begun to develop this area until it became as part of the Municipality of Malaybalay in the year 1960.
