The City Government of Malaybalay commences today the Handog Pamasko program. The City Mayor’s Office will deliver the goods starting today until December 7, 2020. The barangays will be the one to set schedule/s of the food packs distribution to the beneficiaries.

On Nov. 19, 2020, Acting City Mayor, Jay Warren R. Pabillaran, sent out the official instructions to all 46 Punong Barangays to ensure the proper facilitation of the said program. This, he emphasized, to ensure that proper health protocols are followed, and there is utmost order in the whole process of distribution.

Pabillaran said that the official list of recipients should be followed and only those listed should be handed these Christmas food packs. The punong barangays were ordered to post the said list in a conspicuous place in their barangay, and the second copy should be signed by the beneficiary upon receipt of the items.

Claim cards will also be given to the punong barangays who, in turn, will be distributing them to indicated beneficiaries by puroks. These claim cards must have been received before the scheduled distribution in their barangays so the beneficiaries are informed in advance of the process.

Pabillaran also reported that the total cost of the Handog Pamasko 2020 food packs is PhP 16,947,700, and will be distributed to 27,280 households in the City.  Each pack contains rice, and assorted grocery items.

The Acting City Mayor also stressed on the very specific functions of the different offices for this program. The City Planning and Development Office (CPDO) was in charge of preparing the list of recipients based on the latest  MISS data. They prepared the list of beneficiaries according to purok per barangay. The same data was then forwarded to the City Social Welfare & Development Office for validation. The CSWDO is also tasked at monitoring the distribution per barangay, ensuring that all recipients have received the items, and also address each concern as they arise during the distribution. On the other hand, the City Mayor’s Office is in charge of deliveries to all the barangays.
