On May 28, 2024, the Regional Assessment Team (RAT) visited Malaybalay City to evaluate its performance for the Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) for 2023.
The assessment, held at Peoples Hall, City Hall, Casisang, was conducted under the leadership of Mayor Warren R. Pabillaran.
This evaluation aligns with Republic Act 11292, which institutionalizes the SGLG as a performance barometer and incentive system for local government units (LGUs).
Led by Director Rhona P. Abadilla of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Bukidnon, the RAT assessed Malaybalay City across the governance areas based on the “All-in” principle. These areas include Financial Administration and Sustainability, Disaster Preparedness, Social Protection and Sensitivity, Health Compliance and Responsiveness, Sustainable Education, Business-Friendliness and Competitiveness, Safety, Peace and Order, Environmental Management, Tourism, Heritage Development, Culture and Arts, and Youth Development.
Mayor Pabillaran welcomed the RAT and emphasized the importance of meeting service standards required by the SGLG. “By doing our best, we do not have to worry about failure,” he stated.
The City’s SGLG committee, led by City Administrator Atty. Anna Marie R. Bergado, includes various department heads and technical working group members. The assessment is a crucial tool for evaluating the city’s performance and identifying areas for improvement.
