Barangay Profile
The current land uses of the Barangay are classified as agricultural, residential, commercial and institutional. Agriculture land is 80% with rice as the main product, followed by corn. On the other hand, residential land comprises 10% and commercial land is 5%.
Irrigation Riceland produces 4.5 tons/hectares while the non-irrigated rice filed produces of 3.5 tons/hectares. Yellow corn is more productive with a total production of 4.5 tons/hectare compared to white corn with productive only 3.3 tons/hectare.
Plantation of crops which includes banana, mango, lanzones, rambutan and coconut are found in the area estimated land area of 20 hectares.
Vegetable such as eggplant, ampalaya and squash are also found in the area with a total area of 5 hectares and root crops such as cassava, gabi, lutya are also found in the area of 4 hectares.
Mission
We envision barangay simaya as the center of rice granary in the City of Malaybalay with united education and God loving people living in a progressive economically and well-develop livelihood in agriculture and infrastructure through a clean, peaceful and balanced environment govern by a consultative sincere and honest leaders.
Vision
In order to achieve this vision, we the people of Simaya by the active and responsible leader and Simaya sector, seek to address all the sectorial issue in education, health nutrition, peace and order, youth and sports, infrastructure, economical and environment as well as administration and governance. It is our desire and hope that we will be moving economically improved community and total development.
Historical Background
In the beginning Barangay Simaya was a grassy and forestall lands. In 1949, the barangay was a sitio of barangay Linabo which was 18 kilometer away from the City of Malaybalay
In 1949 three(3) families from Luzon settled in the place and found out that the area was best suited for lowland rice culture. They decide to cut the trees and started planting rice(palay). Ilocano from Luzon came through their invitation and finally formed a group constituting the majority of the people at presents.
With flock of maya bird present in the place, the area was named “Simaya” derived from the word “Maya” . in 1954, Simaya became a regular Barangay under the leadership of Jacinto Buscaino who considered as the the number one producer of rice(palay).
Barangay Simaya is composed of eleven (11) Puroks, with a total land area of 1,323 hectares. It is bounded in the north by barangay Violata, in the South by ABrangay Sto.Niño, in the east by Barangay San Martin and in the West by Barangay Cabangahan and Bangcud, the climate of the area is temperature.
