The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) posthumously awarded Mr. Eladio Sulit Posing of Purok 6, Barangay Miglamin being a recipient of a “centenarian gift” worth Php 100,000.00.

Her granddaughter, Analie Delleva received the award on his behalf on June 6, 2022. The family of the late 100-year-old centenarian expressed their gratitude to the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) for helping them comply with all the needed documents submitted to DWSD.

Senior citizens who lived past a century are entitled to receive the award under Republic Act 10868 also known as the “Centenarian Act of 2016.” The law pays tribute to all Filipinos who reach 100 years old, whether living in the Philippines or abroad in recognition of their longevity.

Correspondingly, the awarding of centenarians will undergo a stringent screening process from DSWD field personnel through home visits and assessment to further validate the legitimacy of the claim before it can be budgeted by the national government.

The DSWD gave a token for the family consisting of a letter of felicitation from the President of the Philippines in recognition of this rare feat which was handed during a ceremony held at the CWSDO aside from the monetary award.
