Historical Background

Barangay manalog was formally a sitio of Barangay sumpong. The barangay got its name from the Lumad settler, Manalog from the term “amalog” which refers to the line of rattan that grew abundantly in the area.

A teacher from Malaybalay name Mr. Vicente Manukil led the initiative and organized the residents of the sitio to petition for the separation of the sitio from Barangay Sumpong and become a separate barangay. The petition was granted in 1950 through R.A 2370 with Datu Manhanginon as the local leader. After him became Paulino Sagayoc, the first elected Barangay Liuetenant, who was re-elected in the 1972 local elections. In 1975, Paulino Sagayoc resigned from his position due to his falling health and complications brought on by old age. He was succeeded by Condrado Lagunday and later followed by Alex S. Lagunday presently, the barangay chairman is Ronio Lagunday who successfully won the Barangay Election last October 2011.
