Now on its seventh year, City Government of Malaybalay under the leadership of Mayor Ignacio W. Zubiri, trained 497 kids dubbed Malaybalay City Musical, Dance and Art Training Workshop 2018.
This annual event facilitated by City Mayor’s Office – City Band Section provided free training and coaching to children not only in Malaybalay but also from neighboring localities in the province who are interested to learn and hone their talents and skills.
About 286 students enrolled in dance classes, 57 students in voice lessons, 56 students in guitar, 35 students in drums, 31 students in piano, and 32 students in arts last April 18 to May 25, 2018.
The objective of the program was also geared to develop their potential and self-confidence among children ages between 6 to 17 years old.
During the event, eight trainers comprised of four for the musical classes, Mr. Ivan Christer Arboladura for voice lesson; Mr. Lyian Jay Idul for piano; Mr. Noel Brhyann Dumling for drum; and Mr. Alfredo Toniacao, Jr. for guitar.
While three for dance lessons: Ms. Krisna Anunciado, Mr. June Feraud Codino and Ms. Mary Clear Velasquez; and one for the art lesson with Mr. Rockie Javier.
Musical and art classes held at Malaybalay City Band office, Grandstand Malaybalay City while the dance lessons at City Covered Court Freedom Park Malaybalay City.
Culmination Program was then conducted last May 26, 2018, 2:00 pm at City Covered Court where trainees competed showcasing what they have learned.

City Vice Mayor Roland F. Deticio along with Mr. Romeo R. Lapeciros Jr. Executive Assistant to the Mayor/CGSO and Mr. Christopher Soria City Sports Coordinator graced the event that were well-attended by parents of the participants.
Hon. Deticio in his message highlighted that through this activity, summer vacation of our children became fruitful and productive.
